Designing around Facebook Reels interface areas
Facebook Reels can place engagement controls near the right edge and page, description or audio information across the lower part of the frame. A creative reused from another Meta placement should be reviewed independently because labels, control spacing and the surrounding feed context are not identical.
These percentages describe the conservative overlay used by Display Lab, not a permanent platform specification. Interfaces can change by app version, device and account context.
Practical review checklist
- Protect brand marks and faces from the right-side engagement area.
- Move offers and disclaimers above the lower information region.
- Review reused Instagram assets with the Facebook overlay selected.
- Confirm legibility on a phone without depending on zoom.
Design tip
When one master serves both Instagram and Facebook Reels, design to the more conservative shared area and export a platform-specific variation only when the message needs extra space.
