1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files that a website or its service provider can place in a browser. They may remember settings, maintain a session, measure how a service is used, or support advertising. Browser local storage performs a related function: it allows a website to retain selected information on a device, but the data is not automatically attached to every network request in the way a traditional cookie may be.

In this policy, “cookies” is sometimes used as a convenient collective term for cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, and comparable browser technologies. Some are necessary to deliver a feature requested by you. Others are optional and are activated only according to the choice recorded in the Display Lab privacy banner.

2. Necessary storage

Necessary technologies support the operation, security, appearance, and user-requested features of Display Lab. They cannot be disabled through the consent panel because the service may not function as expected without them. For example, local storage can remember your theme preference, free-tier usage counters, and the consent decision itself. If you activate PRO, Display Lab stores the local PRO status and API key so that the current browser can recognize your access. An optional restoration email may also be stored on the device after a successful restoration.

The hidden administration area may use a secure authentication cookie to maintain an authorized session. Payment pages are provided by Stripe, which may use technologies that are necessary for checkout security, fraud prevention, and payment processing under Stripe's own policies. Necessary storage is not used by Display Lab to create advertising profiles.

3. Analytics

With your permission, Display Lab can load Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and page usage. Analytics can help identify popular tools, broken navigation, unusual performance problems, and general trends that guide improvements. The Analytics option is off by default until you accept it. If you reject optional cookies, the consent-controlled Vercel Analytics component is not loaded by Display Lab.

Analytics providers may process limited technical information such as the page visited, approximate location derived from an IP address, browser or device category, referral information, and event time. Display Lab uses this information to improve the service rather than to identify the content of images processed locally in your browser. Provider retention and security practices may also apply.

4. Marketing and advertising

Display Lab does not currently activate Google AdSense advertising through this consent system. The Marketing category is reserved for possible future advertising features. It is off by default. If AdSense or another advertising provider is introduced, marketing storage and personalized advertising technologies will not be enabled for visitors who have not granted the required permission. We will update this policy with the relevant provider, purposes, and retention details before such use.

Where Google tags are present, the preference system communicates denied or granted states for advertising storage, ad user data, ad personalization, and analytics storage through Google Consent Mode. Consent does not remove controls offered directly by Google or other providers.

5. Your choices and how to change them

On your first visit, you can accept all optional categories, reject them, or open Customize and choose Analytics and Marketing separately. Necessary storage remains active. Display Lab records the selection and date in displaylab_cookie_consent within local storage so that the banner does not reappear on every page.

You can reopen Cookie Choices from the footer at any time and replace your earlier selection. You can also delete cookies and local storage using your browser settings. Clearing all site data removes the saved consent decision and causes the banner to appear again. It may also remove the local PRO key, theme, usage counters, and other preferences. PRO access can normally be restored using the restoration feature, provided the matching entitlement record remains available.

6. Duration and third parties

The consent record and functional local-storage values remain until they are replaced, cleared through the site, removed through browser controls, or deleted by browser retention rules. Session cookies normally expire after the session or according to their configured security lifetime. Third-party services such as Vercel and Stripe may apply their own duration rules to data they process. Blocking all browser storage at browser level may prevent certain features from working.
